Field Measurement

The Hokkaido University Training Reasearch Vessel "Oshoro-maru" has continued summer hydrographic survey in the eastern Bering Sea shelf. We have attended annual cruise since 2000.
Figures 1-3 are snapshots of this year's cruise.

During the Oshor-maru cruise, CTD(*1) cast and water sampling were conducted (Fig. 1). Sampled water is used for measuring chlorophyll-a concentration and major macro nutrients(*2).

Figure 2 shows a snapshot of many bottles for sampling water.

In the Bering Sea, the T/S Oshoro-maru has also conducted the bottom trawl(Fig. 3) and beam trawl to examine the marine ecosystem, in cooperation with the NOAA/FOCI(Fisheries-Oceanography Coordinated Investigations) team.
