During the Arctic winter, pack ice fractures and deforms along linear cracks and failure zones. These can extend hundreds of kilometers across the arctic basin, and contain many leads similar to the one pictured here. The project focuses on understanding the non-linear interaction between tides and pack ice mechanics.
