FIELD CAMPAIGN
Strain rate
PI: Hutchings
An array of buoys forms the "backbone" for the SEDNA field campaign. Ten buoys (at 6 sites) will be placed at 10km radius from the camp, and another six buoys at 70km radius from the camp. The motion of the buoys will be tracked by GPS to identify divergence, shear and vorticity (strain rate components) of the ice pack. Ice thickness survey lines will run along "spokes" between the camp and each buoy.
