Click here to see figure of monitoring positions and mooring configurations. Two out of three NABOS/CABOS moorings will be equipped with the McLane Moored Profiler (MMP). The same tool is used for our pre-NABOS/CABOS mooring deployed in the Beaufort Sea in summer 2001. The process of the MMP deployment is shown in (Figure). The MMP is capable of profiling along a mooring line. The MMP is typically equipped with a CTD sensor and a three-component acoustic velocimeter, giving co-located measurements of temperature, salinity, and velocity. The up-and-down motion of the profiler and its sampling frequency can be programmed beforehand, making it possible to focus on specific depth ranges and time periods, giving a high degree of flexibility in designing a sampling scheme. An example of data provided by the MMP is shown in (Figure).
